In my last post, you learned all about collagen – what it is, how to use it, and more! This week, I’m sharing another tasty way to include collagen as a part of your diet, with this yummy smoothie recipe.

You’ll be getting a nice burst of antioxidants from the frozen berries, as well as incorporating a little bit of green veg, courtesy of the chopped frozen spinach. In fact, this ratio of 2 parts fruit to one part veg is the formula I share with my coaching clients to help them incorporate greens into their smoothies, without it becoming overpowering. Feel free to go 1/2 and 1/2 if it suits you!

Pro Tip: When it comes to making smoothies, use frozen fruits and veggies! Not only is frozen produce typically cheaper than fresh, it also lasts a long time in your freezer without going bad. Additionally, it’s packaged at the peak of freshness, so it’s likely to maintain more of its micronutrient content than its traveled-thousands-of-miles-across-the-country counterparts in the produce section.

Mixed Berry & Greens Smoothie Ready in less than 5 minutes Serves 1 person

  1. 2/3 cup organic mixed berries (frozen)

  2. 1/3 cup organic chopped spinach (frozen)

  3. 1/4 cup full-fat coconut milk

  4. 1/2 cup coconut water with pineapple juice

  5. 12 grams collagen peptides

  6. 1/4 teaspoon Natural Calm

  7. Squeeze of fresh lemon juice

  8. Pinch of sea salt (optional)

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender or blender cup.

  2. Blend until well combined.

Notes: This is the perfect smoothie for a warm day, and would be great for breakfast alongside bacon, sausage, or hard-boiled eggs. It could also be enjoyed as a snack, or even as a post-workout beverage. Cheers!
